Club organized in Concord, Mass., in May, 1876 by May Alcott to "promote social relations among ourselves, hospitality to visitors in Concord, and the pursuit of literature, the arts, and general culture." Meetings, held at the homes of active members on Saturday evenings, included readings, "conversations", lectures, exhibitions, music, games, and other entertainments. Business meetings were called at the discretion of the president and secretary. Over the course of the club's existence, members included: A. Bronson, Louisa, and May Alcott.
