Variant namesLester Routt received his education at Washington University and the University of Liverpool, England; he was registered as both an architect and a professional engineer; he began practicing under his own name (circa 1939), first as Lester W. Routt, architect, and later (by 1946) as Lester W. Routt, architect & engineer; about 1954 the firm was incorporated as Lester W. Routt AIA and Associates, Inc.; later (between 1961 and 1967?) the initials AIA were dropped, according to title blocks on drawings; the firm continued after his death under the direction of his son-in-law Charles David Gardner, AIA, at least until 1974.
