This collection is centered on Emmanuel Stotler Sr. and his son Emmanuel Jr. Jacob Stotler, a Revolutionary War veteran purchased land in Penn Township. He died before reaching the land but his wife, Nancy moved the family there. Upon her death, her son Emmanuel inherited the land. He married Elizabeth Bowen in 1799 and they had thirteen children. They added to the original land holdings. He died in 1868 and his son, Emmanuel, Jr. inherited the land. He was a member of the Republican Party and was at different times, school director, tax assessor and tax collector. His brother, David, married Ellen Mellon, the sister of Judge Mellon.
