Rienzi, Thomas Matthew
Thomas M. Rienzi was a United States (U.S.) Army officer who graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA) in 1942. Most of his career was in military communications and electronics fields. During WWII he served with the 96th Signal Battalion in China, Burma and India theaters. During the 1950s and early 1960s Rienzi had various signal officer assignments. In 1966 he was promoted to brigadier general and assigned as commandant of the U.S. Army Signal Center and School. From 1968 to 1969 he was assigned to command positions with 1st Signal Brigade in Vietnam. During this period he was also the Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications and Electronics in Vietnam. In June 1970 he assumed command of the Strategic Communications Command, Pacific. During the 1970s he had several staff positions in Department of the Army (DA) and directed planning for military communications systems. He was promoted to lieutenant general in 1977 and became involved with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Integrated Communications System Management Agency. General Rienzi retired from military service in 1979.
