Clifford R. Weare came to Montana in 1903 to do prospecting in the area around Noxon, MT. A versatile and creative man, Weare worked seriously as a miner, surveyor’s helper, logger, mill operator, farmer, and service station attendant. He assisted in laying out the town of Noxon. He played an alternatively friendly and adversarial role toward the Northern Pacific Railway and the U.S. Forest Service, as he attempted to stimulate settlement and development of the Bull River area.
