Schumann, Henry V., 1868-1942

Heinrich Valentin Schumann was born in New Braunfels, Texas, February 18, 1868. After attending local schools, he entered an apprenticeship with Dreiss Drugstore in San Antonio, Texas. He later attended the Maryland College of Pharmacy in Baltimore, Maryland, and graduated on March 26, 1889. Returning to Texas, he purchased the drug store of Alex Reszczynski in New Braunfels and opened for business on October 8, 1890. He served both on the State Board of Pharmacy (ca. 1911-1915) and as a member of the Board of Pharmaceutical Examiners for his judicial district. Schumann married Elfriede Hoffman (1872-1953) on April 30, 1892. They had no children. Schumann died at his home on May 22, 1942 and is buried in the Comal Cemetery, New Braunfels.
