Local artist Stanley Gordon is known for his portraits of well-known figures, as well as Rochester personalities. A portrait of Jimmy Carter resides in Carter's library in Atlanta. Gordon has also painted the portraits of three RIT presidents. He sketched soldiers during World War II, then returned home to practice his craft and teach. His most famous work, a portrait of Jesus Christ, has been widely reproduced.
