E. Fred Koller was born on 3 April 1907 in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. He earned his B.A. from Augustana College (Sioux Falls, S.D.) in 1929, his M.A. in 1933 and Ph.D. in 1938 from the University of Minnesota. Professor Koller joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota as an instructor in 1934. He was promoted to assistant professor in 1938, associate professor in 1942 and professor of agriculture and applied economics in 1946. Professor Koller's areas of research and study included agriculture cooperation, dairy marketing and agricultural finance. E. Fred Koller retired from the University in 1975 as professor emeritus and died on 3 September 1980.
