Biographical Note

Francis Marion Wulburn served in the Marine Corps between 1930 and 1943. During this time he was stationed in Nicaragua; the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia; an instructor at Quantico, Virginia; and at the Army's Engineer Amphibian Command at Camp Edwards, Massachusetts. He also served as Commandant of the Marine detachments aboard the Battleships of the Atlantic Fleet at the outbreak of the war, and as a staff member of the Commander of Central Pacific Operations.
