Everett served as Horticulturist of the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG), 1932-1967; Curator of Education, 1954-1967; and founder and director of the NYBG School of Gardeners, 1932-1941. His duties included being in charge of the living plant collections; of the gardening staff, 1934-1936; the planning of landscape design and special plant displays; and management responsibility for the NYBG's education program (excluding graduate education).
