Lawyer, of Litchfield, Conn.; born in Sherman, Conn., son of Jedediah Graves; studied law with James C. Loomis of Bridgeport and admitted to bar at Litchfield, Apr., 1843, beginning practice the same year in Plymouth. In 1849 returned to Litchfield where resided for the remainder of his life. In addition to his successful practice, he was executive secretary to Gov. Henry Dutton and clerk of the County Court; represented the town of Litchfield in the General Assembly during various years from 1858-1889.
