Harvard University. Board of Ministry.
The Board of Preachers was established in 1881, and was charged to work with the Plummer Professor of Christian Morals in the conduct of religious services in the University. The Memorial Church was dedicated in 1932 and incorporates an Appleton Chapel, the name given to a former building erected on the same site in 1855. In 1974, the title of the person in charge of Memorial Church was changed from Preacher to the University to that of Minister in Memorial Church. In the following year (1975) the Board of Preachers was discontinued and was replaced by a Board of Ministry; in connection with these changes a Faculty Committee was established to assist with the conduct of religious affairs.
