Tien Fu Wuh was born in China and sold at any early age as a mui tsai. She was subsequently rescued by Donaldina Cameron and was raised at and spent much of her life as an assistant of and translator for Donaldina Cameron at the Chinese Mission Home (now known as the Cameron House) in San Francisco, California.
