The N.N. Club was organized in February 1886 by Mrs. Emma Haddock and friends to study history and literature. The group met for a year before becoming the N.N. (No Name) Club. The club was affiliated with the Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs from 1893 to 1942. The group generally had literary programs, but was also interested in civic improvement and art. During the two world wars members were active in the Red Cross and the local U.S.O. Since 1935 the club's programs have been based on biographical studies.
