Pettit, Katherine, 1868-1936
Biographical note: Katherine Pettit was born in Fayette County, Kentucky and attended the Sayre School in Lexington from 1885 to 1887. In 1902 she established the Hindman Settlement School in Knott County, Kentucky with her colleague, May Stone. In 1913 Pettit founded the Pine Mountain Settlement School in Harlan County.
