Montauk (Monitor)
Variant namesSingle-turreted monitor (ironclad); built by John Ericsson at Continental Iron Works, Greenpoint, N.Y.; launched 9 Oct. 1862; and commissioned at New York 14 Dec. 1862; operating during the Civil War; decommissioning at Philadelphia in 1865, she remained there until sold, 14 Apr. 1904.
