Reid, Albert T.

Hide Profile

The Albert T. Reid Cartoon Collection was begun in the 1930's when Reid presented to the University of Kansas a small number of items which formed the nucleus of the Collection. Considerable effort was undertaken in 1954 to expand the Collection by the William Allen White Foundation, to be housed in the School of Journalism's Historical Center at the University. Efforts to expand the Collection were made through solicitations to editorial and comic strip cartoonists all over America for examples of their work. As a result of this, nearly 600 cartoonists contributed approximately 1750 items between the years 1954 and 1956.
