Backus, Richard H.
Richard "Dick" Backus worked at WHOI from 1952 - 1988, in the Geophysics and Biology Dept., serving as chair of the Biology Dept. from 1970 - 1974, 1986 - 1987. He was considered the local shark expert. He is the co-author of the book "The natural history of sharks." He served as editor-in-chief of "Georges Bank."
