The Acquisitions Dept., formerly the Order Dept., is responsible for the receipt and routing of new materials for the library. The two main components of the department are the Order Section and the Gifts and Exchanges Section. The head of the department reports to the Associate University Librarian for Technical Services. The Order Dept. was formally organized around 1924 and continued to be known by that name until the late 1950s, when it became the Acquisitions Dept.
