Van Kleeck family.
Baltus Van Kleeck of Poughkeepsie, New York was a representative from Dutchess County, New York in the 16th and part of the 17th Colonial Assemblies. Lawrence L. Van Kleeck was born on May 3, 1782. He married Alida Van Rensselaer, and died on April 2, 1853. Lawrence Van Kleeck served as High Sheriff of Albany County, Clerk of the City and County of Albany and Collector of Internal Revenue. He was removed from the office of Military Storekeeper at Brooklyn (a post given to him by Andrew Jackson) for political reasons. Major Leonard G. Van Kleeck was the son of Lawrence Van Kleeck, and died in February of 1815.
