William Pallister Hubbard, a native of Wheeling, West Virginia, was born December 24, 1843, and died December 5, 1921. His parents were Sarah Pallister and Chester Dorman Hubbard. Both W. P. and his father graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, Chester graduating in 1840, and W. P. earning a B.A. in 1863. William married Anna E. Chamberlin on May 21, 1868. They had five children. After college, W. P. returned to Wheeling, where he practiced law from 1864-1914. He held several political positions, including secretary of the Republican State Central Committee and United States Congressman from 1907-1911.
