Federico Augustus Ronstadt immigrated to Arizona and Sonora, Mexico in the 1850s. He worked as a mining engineer and served as a commander of Mexican troops to fight Indians and revolutionaries. He moved to Tucson to livewith his son, Frederick Jose Maria Ronstadt, in 1887. Fred was born in Sonora in 1868 and came to Tucson in 1882. He established a carriage and hardware business, The F. Ronstadt Hardware Company. He established the Club Filarmonico Tucsonense in 1889 along with some friends. His daughter, Luisa Espinel became an internationally known singer and dancer in a professional career that lasted from 1915 through the 1930s.
