A 1942 graduate of Blue Mountain College in Mississippi, Cynthia Jo Hall originally hailed from Tallassee, Alabama. Upon returning to her hometown she taught high school and was the educational director at First Baptist Church, Tallassee. She became Secretary for the Alabama State Baptist Student Union in March, 1944 and led Religious Focus Weeks, specifically at Bessie Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia. She married Thomas Sanford Pryor in August, 1947. The Pryor's were long time members of the First Baptist Church of Huntsville, Alabama.
