Steele, Dr. Andrew J. (1846-1919), was one of the early educators of the American Missionary Association in the South, after the Civil War. He served as principal at the LeMoyne Institute for Colored Youth, 1873-1908. Married Alice Harvey (1859-1934), in 1899.

Harvey, Edward H., enlisted in company A, Seventh Cavalry, Nov. 22, 1862 at Prairieville, Michigan. Mustered out Dec. 3, 1862. Discharged at Detroit, Michigan, Dec. 22, 1864, for wounds received in action May 28, 1864. Harvey was born Feb. 11, 1845, near Cazenovia, New York, son of Reuben and Susan (Bowlett) Harvey, died Nov. 9,1916, Paw Paw, Michigan. Married 1881, Florence Godfrey of Battle Creek. Harvey was graduated from Union Theological Seminaary, New York, ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church, 1872. Appointed U.S. Pension Agent, Detroit, 1890-1894.
