Dargan, Marion

Marion Dargan was born on March 13, 1888, in Columbia, South Carolina. A history professor, he came to the University of New Mexico in 1929 after receiving degrees from Chicago and Columbia Universities and teaching in Illinois and Texas. His specialty was U.S. colonial history. After coming to UNM he switched his research to New Mexico history. In 1941 he was nominated as a fellow of the Historical Society of New Mexico. He died on September 3, 1952 in Albuquerque, N.M. following a long illness.
