Thomas Gannett Holyoke was born on April 1, 1866 in South Natwich, Massachusetts. He came to St. Paul in 1877 to live with his sister, Mrs. William Davis. Holyoke worked as a draftsman for Cass Gilbert from the 1880s-1892 and was the chief draftsman in the design of the Minnesota State Capitol building. Holyoke became Gilbert's partner in 1892 and formed his own practice in St. Paul in 1906. Thomas Holyoke died on March 30, 1925.
