Murie, Olaus Johan.
Variant namesOlaus Johan Murie was born in Minnesota in March 1889. The son of Norwegian immigrants he graduated from Pacific University, Oregon in 1912. By 1920 he was employed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. Murie travelled widely in Alaska, Yukon Territory and Aleutian Islands. He died in October 1963
