Surface Transportation Corporation of New York.
Local bus company serving Westchester, the Bronx, and portions of Manhattan; established ca. 1924 and operated by the Third Avenue Railway company. The Surface Transportation Corporation superceded its parent company following the conversion of streetcar lines to bus service, 1941-1948, and was acquired by the city in 1962.
