Cardoso (1940-1989) was a professor of history at the University of Wyoming from 1973-1989, specializing in Mexican history and authoring numerous works on Mexican history, Mexican migration, and Wyoming history. At the time of his death, he was completing a history of the U.S. Marshals in Wyoming and a study of Anglo and Mexican relations titled "White and Brown."
