Peter H. Davidson & Co., Inc.
Peter H. Davidson began his career at the art gallery M. Knoedler & Company in 1960, and succeeded his father William F. Davidson as Head of the American Department in 1968. In 1969, Davidson joined Wildenstein & Company as Head of the American Department. He left Wildenstein in 1971 to form his own art gallery, Peter H. Davidson & Co., Inc., which dealt primarily with American art from all periods.
Julian Alden Weir (1852-1919), American Impressionist painter, was born and raised in Westpoint, N.Y. He studied at the National Academy of Design and the Ècole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Weir adopted the Impressionist style in 1891, painting landscapes and figurative works--mostly of his Connecticut farms--throughout the rest of his career.
