Lt. Henry Douglass, Lt. Philip Stockton, Lt. Robert G. Cole, Capt. Charles D. Jordan, and Col. James Voty Bomford were with the U.S. Army, 8th Infantry alternately based at Ft. Davis, Texas, and engaged in scouting expeditions in Western Texas against nearby Indians in 1854-1855.
