In 2005, Sizemore lived in Midland (Mich.). She studied weaving at Central Michigan University (CMU) with Dr. Ux and nominated her to the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame in 2004. Katherine Ux, one of Michigan's foremost weavers, was born in McBain (Mich.) on August 22, 1909, the daughter of Samuel and Katherine (Burk) Ardis. Katherine married Hilton C. Ux (d. 1984). She received her B. A. from Western Michigan University (WMU) and her M. A. from Columbia University, and also took courses at the Art Institute of Chicago and the State School of Art in Stockhom (Sweden). During her academic career Katherine taught at Kalamazoo Public Schools, WMU, Interlochen Art Academy, the University of Tennessee, Alma College, and CMU, from which she retired after 30 years of service in 1975. While at CMU, Katherine taught weaving, silk-screen printing, jewelry, ceramics, applique, and research on Indian crafts and weaving. Her work was exhibited at the Detroit Institute of Arts, Cranbrook, CMU, the Kalamazoo Institute of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York City, and the School of Arts and Architecture at Yale University. One of her pieces was selected by the Smithsonian Institute as part of its first traveling exhibit of American art to European museums. Katherine received an honorary degree of Doctor of Fine Arts from CMU in 1997. On May 20, 1999, Katherine died at Cenetral Michigan Community Hospital in Mount Pleasant (Mich.). She was survived by her brother and his wife, her sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and her husband preceded her in death.
