Harry Crane was born in Brooklyn, NY and became a stand up comedian by age 19. He was recruited by MGM to write Hollywood films earning his first credit with Air raid wardens (1943). He is best remembered for creating and writing the Honeymooners (1951). In the 1970s, he helped write Dean Martin's Celebrity roast series. He also helped script numerous award presentation shows including the Academy Awards and the Emmy Awards. Over the years, Crane wrote for and befriended a variety of entertainers including Jackie Gleason, Jimmy Durante, Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra, Milton Berle, Abbott and Costello, Danny Thomas, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Crane died of cancer, Los Angeles CA on Sept. 13, 1999.
