Henry Fuseli, Swiss-born painter and writer. He first came to London in 1764, and remained in England for much of his life. Fuseli was a member of the social circle of radical publisher Joseph Johnson, which included such noted figures as Thomas Paine, William Godwin, Joseph Priestley, Erasmus Darwin, and Mary Wollstonecraft.
