Florence Wells was born in 1878 and served as the local agent for the Thomas Thompson Trust in Brattleboro, Vermont from 1921 to the early 1960s. The Trust was founded in 1907 to provide assistance for poor and working class women. TTT sought to prevent illness among working women and their families through public health programs, and dispensed small amounts of money to the women in the form of loans. Wells was also very active in the Congregational Church in Brattleboro. She died in 1967.
