The Deaf Art/Deaf Artists project began as a course taught at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) at Rochester Institute of Technology by Paula Grcevic and Barbara Fox. In the development of course material, Grcevic and Fox assembled a collection of documentation on deaf and hard of hearing artists. This material was originally referred to as the International Archive of Deaf Artists. In order to make the material more accessible, a website was created under that name and was active from 1998-2006. In 2007, the site was relaunched as Deaf Art/Deaf Artists. Deaf Art/Deaf Artists showcases deaf and hard of hearing artists and their works. Artist biographies, portfolios, videos, student artwork, articles on Deaf culture and art, and other resources are included on the website.
