Arthur, Copley, and his son Copley Jr. were all members of the prominent Amory family of Boston.

Arthur Amory was born February 6, 1841. He graduated from Harvard University in 1862. While an undergraduate, he visited Greenland with the expedition sponsored by the National Historical Society of Williams College. He died in August 1911.

Copley Amory was born in 1866. After graduating from Harvard in 1888, he operated a stock and dairy farm at Walpole, New Hampshire. He rebuilt a Hudon's Bay trading post in eastern Quebec as a summer home and, in 1931, hosted a biological conference there which examined the life cycles of wildlife. Copley dies April 10, 1960.

His son, Copley Amory Jr., was born November 2, 18990. He graduated from Harvard in 1912. After his military service in World War I, he served in the diplomatic corps for ten years, including assignments in Tehran and Cuba. He also worked as a partner in the investment firm of Loomis, Sayles, and Co. in Boston. He died April 5, 1964.
