Under the by-laws of the Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors, the Faculty Council (composed of all University faculty at the rank of instructor and above) is charged to establish curricula, fix standards of instruction, determine requirements for degrees, and generally determine educational policy for the University, subject to the authority of the Board of Supervisors. The Faculty Council has formally acknowledged the authority of the Faculty Senate to act on its behalf with few constraints.
