Gwynedd Preparative Meeting was established in 1702. In 1714, the preparative meeting was transferred to Gwynedd Monthly Meeting. In 1827, after the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. The Orthodox branch removed to Pennlyn in 1830. It was discontinued in 1852, and its members were attached to Plymouth Preparative Meeting (Orthodox). In 1936, Gwynedd Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) was discontinued after its three preparative meetings, Gwynedd, Norristown and Plymouth, had been established as monthly meetings. The members of Gwynedd Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) became members of this newly oraganized Gwynedd Monthly Meeting. From 1936 to 1974, Gwynedd Preparative Meeting held annual sessions as a separate business meeting of Gwynedd Monthly Meeting.
