Wilkeson family.
Judge Samuel Wilkeson was a pioneer Buffalo resident principally responsible for the construction of Buffalo Harbor and for making Buffalo the western terminus of the Erie Canal. His son, Col. Samuel Henry Wilkeson, commanded the 11th N.Y. Cavalry during the Civil War. Another son, John Wilkes Wilkeson, was killed in the battle of Fair Oaks, Va., 1862, while with the 100th N.Y. Volunteers. Margaret Louise and Elizabeth Frye were two of Samuel Henry's ten children.
