McAlpine, Erastus C., 1849-1921.
Erastus C. McAlpine, of Charlotte, N.C., worked in the Louise Textile Mill in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. He, with his wife, Jane, had nine children. Though McAlpine came from humble origins, he was well-informed of national and international events of his time, as his diaries reveal. His written record also indicates that he was a devloutly religious man, who faithfully attended church services and Sunday school.
