Montgomery, John, approximately 1817-
Variant namesBorn in Scotland; emigrated to Oregon Territory (later Washington Territory) in 1838; employed by Hudson's Bay Company at Fort Nisqually, Wash., in 1851; when Indian Wars broke out in 1855, offered his barn as storehouse for military supplies. This became known as Camp Montgomery and became a post of some importance in Pierce County, Wash.
