University of Utah. President (Widtsoe : 1916-1923)
John Andreas Widstoe was born in Froyen, Norway January 31, 1872, and came to Utah at age 11. He graduated from Brigham Young College, then received a B.S. from Harvard in 1894. He received an appointment for a Harvard Travelling Fellowship and did advance study in Europe, receiving his A.M. and Ph.D. in 1899. In 1916, he accepted the presidency of the University of Utah. He died November 29, 1952.
