Carlos Ashby Badger, prominent Salt Lake City attorney was born in 1878. He attended school in Salt Lake City and graduated from the L.D.S. Academy. He served for two years on a mission in Colorado. He served as a secretary for former Senator Reed Smoot from 1903 to 1908. It was during this time that Senator Smoot was being investigated by the Senate for practicing polygamy. He then returned to Utah. He served in the National Guard, where he eventually became promoted to Brigadier General. He pursued a law career following graduation from law school. He also worked actively with the Boy Scouts of America. He died from an accidental gun wound in 1939.
His wife, formerly Rose Jenkins, was born in 1877. She was educated in Salt Lake City and graduated from the L.D.S. Academy. She became a teacher and taught in Salt Lake City and in the Salt Lake County schools until she married Carlos A. Badger in 1900. She was active in church work and in pursuing a literary career until her death in 1937.
