Served with the 10th Mountain Division during World War II. Principal unit was Company K of the 86th Infantry Regiment. Wounded in action on February 25, 1945 near Mount della Torraccia, Italy. Received a Bronze Star Medal for his service in the Apennines and Po River Battles.
