Campbell, the fourth of five daughters, was born in Provo, Utah to Douglas and Claire Bush. Campbell attended Dixon Junior High, followed by Provo High School, where, as a sophomore, she decided she wanted to study English in college. While attending Brigham Young University Campbell married her husband, Scott, whom she had known for four years prior. In April of 2005, Campbell received her Bachelor's degree in English.
