Hide Profile

Summitville Tiles, Inc. of Summitville, Columbiana County, Ohio, was founded in 1912 as the Summit Brick Co. In 1920, F. H. Johnson converted operations to the manufacturing of face brick. The company flourished and became well known for their deep red bricks called "Summitville Reds." In 1947, F. H. Johnson's two sons Fred and Pete took over the company and renamed it Summitville Tiles. They began producing quarry tiles in various shapes and colors. In the mid 1980s, the third generation, brothers Bruce and Dave, took over the company. Summitville Tiles, Inc. is one of the nation's oldest continually-operating tile companies.

William Jefferson (Bill) Clinton (b. 1946) served as the 42nd president of the United States. During his first term, a controversy arose surrounding the real estate dealings Clinton and his wife, Hillary, had in the 1970s and 1980s with James B. McDougal and Susan McDougal, associates in the failed Whitewater Development Corporation. In 1992, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigated the actions of the corporation. The Justice Department got involved in the case in 1994, appointing a special prosecutor. The Clintons were never charged with wrongdoing, but their business associates were convicted of multiple crimes, including fraud, embezzlement and conspiracy.
