Wilkinson, Samuel John, 1834-1917.
Samuel J. Wilkinson migrated to Australia in 1852 to seek gold, and settled in Beechworth in 1860. He was later schoolmaster at Twist's Creek (near Yackandandah) (1867), then at Crowlands (near Ararat) in 1870, and at Paynesville in Gippsland in 1889. He was also a Methodist preacher in the Ararat district.
