Stone was born in Auburn, MA, in 1758; in addition to being a country schoolmaster, he was also a poet and composer, music teacher, a land surveyor, a bookbinder, and a representative of the Massachusetts legislature; in collaboration with Abraham Wood, he wrote The Columbian harmony (1793); died in 1837.
