Taylor was educated at Gettysburg College (B.S., 1916), Harvard University (Ph. D., 1921) and the University of Wisconsin (M.S., 1923). He taught philosophy and psychology at Bryn Mawr College, 1921-1922, University of Wisconsin, 1922-1923 and the University of Maine, 1923-1926. At Smith College (1926-1962) he taught psychology. Taylor died April 12, 1976. His wife, Phoebe Smith was born Sept. 30, 1895 and died Nov. 25, 1993. She attended the University of Washington and the University of Wisconsin (A.B., 1923) and studied at the Borglum School of Sculpture.
